Configuring Busy-On-Busy

What happens when you receive a call when already in a call

Busy on busy is what it is generally called in Microsoft Teams for handling of calls when already in a call or meeting.

Most users will be able to configure how this is handled on their own within their Microsoft Teams client by following the below steps.

  1. First open your Microsoft Teams and click on the ellipses (three dots) at the top right of your Teams window next to your picture / initials.

  1. Select “Settings” from the menu that drops down

  1. Then select “Calls” from the options on the left hand side if the screen to bring you into your Call handing options.

  1. From the Calls screen look for the option that says, “When you’re in a call and receive another call”, click the drop down menu and select the option that best fits your work flow requirements.
  1. Let new calls ring me: This option allows you to receive incoming calls while you are already on a call.  When you select this option, you will hear a notification for the new call and can choose to answer it or let it go to voicemail.
  2. Play a busy signal: This option will play a busy signal to the caller when you are already on a call, indicating that you are currently unavailable.
  3. Redirect as if call is unanswered: This option will redirect the new call to voicemail or follow the If unanswered setting you have previously configured.

Note: From this screen you may also configure other call related options relating to your voicemail, ringtones, etc.
